about

It's man versus cat, cat versus tree, in this epic battle that leads Ronnie the Christmas cat to discover the true meaning of the holiday season.

lyrics

"RONNIE THE CHRISTMAS CAT"

Of all of the kitties who lived down the hall
Ronnie liked Christmas most of all
His sister and brother, they liked it as well.
But he loved it more, it was easy to tell.
At the sight of a wreath or the branch of a tree
Ronnie would shriek uncontrollably!
Spot liked the goodies, and Henry the gifts.
But it was always the green stuff that gave Ronnie a lift.

Now the trouble with Ronnie is when he would meet them,
A wreath or a tree, he would soon try to eat them.
His humans were cunning, and crafty, and clever.
"You won't get this tree." They told Ronnie "No, never!"
A mountain of boxes they built up so high.
Atop it the tree nearly reached to the sky.
But up the box mountain the Christmas cat tore.
When the cat hit the ceiling the tree hit the floor!

He munched on the branches and baubles with Glee,
And said "Silly humans, you won't outsmart me!"
"Oh we will outsmart you, and here is the proof
We are going to put this tree up on the roof!"
So up on the rooftop the Christmas tree stood.
"Forget all about it" they told him "Be good."
But he leapt t'ward the sky, and in one single bound
The cat hit the rooftop. The tree hit the ground!

He tore at the tinsel and purred with delight.
*You cannot outsmart me, now give up this fight."
"Oh we will outsmart you, you'll see very soon.
We're going to put this tree up on the moon!"
They hopped in a rocket ship headed for space,
Leaving Ronnie at home with a scowl on his face.
But with one giant leap, he arrived full of mirth.
And the tree lay in pieces, in pieces on earth!

"Oh what shall we do now?" They wondered aloud.
"You cannot outsmart me!" He joyfully meowed.
*Well, maybe you're right. And it's probably true.
Let's go and see santa. He'll know what to do!"
So off to the North Pole the family went
In search of some help with their predicament.
And there they saw Santa, that Jolie old elf
In a red and white coat, just like Ronnie himself!

"Oh santa, dear Santa, please answer our plea.
We can't stop this cat from destroying our tree!"
"Well maybe" said Santa*he'll leave it alone
If Ronnie is giving a tree all his own.
Your question is simple. The answer is clear.
I'll solve all your problems. I'll fix it right here.
I'll weave it of catnip, and string it with treats,
His very own tree just for Ronnie to eat!"

When they got it home, all the other cats cried
"Oh Ronnie! What is it? Quick! Bring it inside!"
But Ronnie was angry. He hissed and he howled!
*It's mine! It's all mine! You can't have it!* he growled!
But up in his room after all of the hissing
Ronnie discovered that something was missing.
He finally had a tree all of his own.
But it wasn't so merry to be dining alone.

"Spot! Henry! Oh Geenie! Come see what I've got!
It's too much for one. I can't eat the whole lot."
Of the meaning of Christmas he soon was aware.
A Christmas tree always tastes better when shared!
Now Ronnie is happy. The cats are all fed.
There's barf in the boots, and hairballs on the bed.
And all are behaving...okay...probly not...
Merry Christmas from Geenie, and Henry, and Spot!

AND RONNIE.
